Fly fishing trip with Dave Smethurst

This auction is for YOUR CHOICE of one of the following:

1. Dave Smethurst lives in Gaylord and Dave fishes! He is the former Chair of The Michigan Council of Trout Unlimited. Currently, he serves on the Pigeon River Country State Advisory Council and has for over 20 years. The Pigeon River Country is home to the Pigeon, Black and Sturgeon Rivers, all blue ribbon trout streams. He has taught fly-fishing and guided anglers for 25 years.

Your trip will be a daylong adventure into the Pigeon River Country and includes lunch for two anglers. We’ll be wade fishing for trout, or if interested, by canoe for bass or bluegill with a fly rod. You will design the day in a conversation with Dave. Do you want to focus on catching fish? Always remember that the fishing is always great, but sometimes the catching is pretty slow. Or, do you want to learn more about fly-casting or stream techniques or look for elk? You decide.

The winning bidder should call Dave at 989-732-9090 to arrange the date. Dave can suggest over night lodging if needed, tell you about his favorite restaurants or Dave also plays golf and can point you toward any course in the area and maybe even fill out a foursome. If his schedule allows, you might be able to arrange for another day of fishing.

OR

2. This wonderful day includes up to four people. We’ll tour the Pigeon River Country, the largest tract of wild land in the lower peninsula of Michigan. Your day will be planned according to your interests. It might include nature study, scenic vistas, history or short hikes. Of course, we might just watch clouds go by at Inspiration Point. The point is we’ll do whatever it takes to make your day special. The winner should contact Dave at 989-732-9090 to make the arrangements. Of course, we’ll go on your schedule, but if you want to go in the fall, we’ll throw bugling elk in for nothing extra.
